The ceremony was held Sunday morning for Cath erine Pryor, daughter of Mr and Mrs James Pryor, who wed Alonzo B Crosby of New York City. Crosby studies music and has been a member of the Celoists, with many local relatives and friends in attendance at the residence event.
In Baesville Virginia a drought scene is noted as Mt View Baptist Church held Sunday services with a large crowd. Rev Dr A T Reed delivered a sermon from St John chapter 14 focusing on Father stretched thy hand to Thee. A community gathering followed with chicken and country ham served and gifts distributed.
In Millboro Virginia residents report a pleasant day with talks of a sermon by Michel and a revival starting at the Silmer Church on November 3. Nealie Alexander’s hospital admission and several local health updates are noted along with yard and woodwork activity and daily chores.
Walter White acting secretary of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People speaks at French Lick Indiana on The N A A C P Versus the Mob. He addresses the Marion lynching of two colored men on August 7 and notes action by Attorney General Ogden after the Marion Grand Jury failed to indict. Names of 27 mob participants and sheriff neglect allegations were presented to the attorney general.
Mrs Catherine Brown wife of 4 2 Brown Woo died three years ago at 2 40 p m on Thursday. Relatives and friends mourn her loss. Mrs Brown was a member of the Sanai Baptist Church for many years. Her brother and friend Mrs Lica Turner recovering from illness. Evelyne Ware and Bea Stice career visit Philgeonia next Saturday night. Dir Gordon from Fottstown Pa visiting his parents leaving for Potts Town Pa. Huston Ware and A B Bryant Miller Davis also Herbert Davis returned from New Kingston Pa. One little daughter of Mrs Gordon Brown aged 4 injured losing a finger. Rev E L Shifler revival in Warmsprings Va for two weeks. Miss Maggie Bayant ill with typhoid but improving. Mr Archie Irvin left for New York. Mr John Holli runs a soup house. Mrs Della Williams has toothache. Young folks Pasture Aid Club meets at Fred Brown's next Friday night October List. Many readers expect a large crowd.
Sunday school drew good attendance at Goshen with Rev. W. D. Scott delivering a sermon. The pastor and deacons were called to igsville for Men’s Day events at three o clock Sunday evening. Mr. Thomas Coles traveled to Staunton on business. Several locals including Sandy Thomas Thomas Coles Willard Coles Guasie Pleasants and Wm Randall Jr attended a Millboro play Saturday night.
Local church events at Cochran Chapel include a Wednesday sermon on Obedience by Rev S S Spriggs of Winchester. Residents from Greenville and Staunton areas visit, while Mrs Robert Ware and family from Bayonne NJ spend winter here.
