Charles F Points dies. long community leader and bank founder
Charles F Points, 73, died Friday morning at King's Daughters Hospital. A Mt Zion Baptist Church member since youth, he served as Sunday School superintendent and treasurer for fifteen years. Founder of Peoples Dime Savings Bank, he was hailed as a frugal, trusted community figure and the first Black property owner in Green County after the Civil War. Survived by two sons Obie and Charles Jr., with wife and two daughters predeceasing him. Services by Rev McCreary at Fairvern Cemetery conducted by Odd Fellows pallbearers.

Mra Beatrice Erskine wife of Mr John Prekine of Charlestown W Va died in that city and was buried here today from the Augusta St M E Church with Rev J H Pevers officiating. The body lay in state at Wilkes and Company’s undertaking parlors all day Monday. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery attended by a large crowd with honorary pallbearers and active mourners listed.
