World War II memories found in club wall
Pioneer Tavern owner Cindy Simone tore out a wall during plumbing work on Ogden 25th Street and uncovered two time capsules from World War II. An envelope of papers and a soldier’s wallet were hidden in the wall, tying to Darrell Rector’s grandmother Lillian Rector who died in 1963. The envelope contained photos, an uncle’s life and a 1937 Social Security card, while the wallet remains a mystery.
