Winners In Jones County Home Demonstration Club Exhibit

The Anson area display by the Jones County Home Demonstration Council showcased 173 entries across vegetables fruits brined foods jellies and preserves with quality graded by size ripeness color and standard containers. Ribbons were awarded to members of Pleasant Hill Noodle Davie Hawley Lueders South Hamlin Corinth and Swan Chapel clubs for items including string beans beets cucumbers pickles peaches berries and jams. A pantry display emphasized ample fruits meats vegetables and ready meals aided by sub irrigation demonstrated toorieholders as a model for year round nutrition.

Home Demonstration Agents Hear New District Program

The Jones County Home Demonstration Council met in Unison on September 19 with guests Miss Myrtle Murray from College Station and Mrs. Maggie W. Barry from College Station. They and allies discussed organization work and plans for next year while representatives from Dickens, Kent, Haskell, Knox, Fisher, and Stonewall counties attended.

Self Brothers Open New Stamford Garage in Hedberg Building

Self Brothers, a new Stamford firm, opened a garage in the Hedberg building. Marvin Self and Jerome Self lead, with Bill Pace as mechanic and E A Sarter as assistant mechanic. The shop will offer general auto repair, parts, accessories, and Hood tire agency. Marvin formerly led the service dept at a Denton Chevrolet dealership. Jerome came from Lipan Hood County. Pace has worked in Big Spring and Denton County.

Jones County Receives 12 CCC Quota For Enrollment

Jones County is allotted a quota of 12 men for the Citizens Conservation Corps in the current enrollment. Applicants must be single ages 19 to 25 on relief rolls or in need of aid, and never previously discharged from CCC. No entry until local relief office posts notices. Fifty New Pupils Enrolled In Moran Street System

Moran Street schools report total enrollment about 1075 with 614 pupils as of Tuesday up from 564 after the first week. Reynolds Primary adds 11 pupils to reach 143. Bridge Opening Sparks Stonewall County Rally

Stamford Motor Company service manager Ben Ashmore left Tuesday for Chicago to attend the Century of Progress Exposition as a Ford guest. Ashmore ranked third among seven Dallas zone winners on a merit plan tied to shop sales, tool upkeep, and trained staff. He joins 211 Ford service managers nationwide for a week in Chicago with all expenses paid and may receive merit badges presented by Henry Ford.
