Stamford Man Thought Killed In Plane Crash
William Lee Simpson 24, Stamford native and Army specialist third class, was listed as among those on an Air Force Day twin engine crash near Mt Yale 12 miles west of Buena Vista Colorado. Parents Albert R and Mrs Simpson received a telegram from Ft Carson Colorado confirming his listing and awaiting positive identification. Simpson served in Korea for 18 months after enlisting last December, previously in the Marines and moving to Stamford at age 12. He has a brother John Franklin Simpson of Oklahoma City and a sister Patricia Ann Simpson of Stamford.

Fire destroys Stamford Paint and Body Shop and four cars
A blaze at Stamford Paint and Body Shop, owned by Chill Anders and located near the Texas Cowboy Reunion grounds, ruined the shop and four nearly new cars stored inside. Fire chief Dick Rowland said the building was a total loss after an early morning fire sparked before responders arrived. A separate Monday fire at 11:35 am damaged the Tad McGhee Motor Company building lightly.

C. W. Bean Finds Long Lost Ring
C. W. Bean recovered his gold class ring lost 21 years ago at the family home. Found Friday in the yard after a chicken scratched the ground, the ring bears the inscription C O W B and the year 1935. Child Dies After Minor Operation in California
Jana Getchell four year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul Getchell of Puenta California and a late mother in law of Mr Jerinald Baird of Stamford died Friday morning after a minor operation. Pneumonia developed after discharge and she passed away shortly after. Surviving are a brother Dana about 14 months and paternal grandparents in Colorado. Great grandmother Mrs Baird of Stamford was present. Mrs Reginald Beird did not return home. Mrs G R McLellan is recovering after Stamford Sanitarium surgery.
