County Asked To Share Cost of Answering Fire Alarms
Rural fire protection in the county was discussed at a Commissioners Court meeting Monday with delegations from Anson Hamlin Stamford and Lueders. Stamford Fire Chief Dick Rowland cited four calls outside city limits since Aug 24 including a bridge fire a butane storage fire and fires at Avoca Tuxedo and nearby properties.

Two Injured After West Texas Storm Hits Stamford
A dust and rain storm swept Stamford Saturday night at 7 with sand blown through the area. Mrs. M E Wadzeck broke her right arm after leaving a storm cellar two miles north of Stamford. Mrs. Lee Bell suffered a broken right leg and other injuries in a highway crash about 3.5 miles north on the Stamford Rule road. Visibility dropped to near zero as red sand and dust accompanied the rain. The storm caused damaged TV antennas and tree limbs with 65 inches of moisture reported in Stamford.
