The Stamford Community Kindergarten in its third year has 27 enrollees this week with ongoing enthusiasm among pupils and volunteers. Classes are split into small groups for personal attention, supervised by Mrs. Jarrel Sharp. Tractor Course Set For Stamford High Next Week
A tractor maintenance short course will run Monday through Thursday, September 13 to 16, at the Vocational Agriculture building. Instructor Norman Waggoner from Texas A&M will cover engine operation, maintenance, ignition, diesel fuel injections, cooling, transmission and hydraulics, oil and lubricant selection, testing, and safety. Enrollment costs $2 per person and can be arranged with Weldon Holbrooks or W. L. Medford. phone 773-5171.

Grantham of Lamesa has bought the Douthit Gin in Stamford. He is cleaning grounds and preparing repairs and new equipment for the ginning season. Mrs. Arnold Douthit says she is pleased Grantham will run the gin. he has been an operations manager and farming supervisor. The Granthams seek a Stamford home and visited over Labor Day weekend. they attend the Methodist Church with four children ages 17, 14, 12, and 11.

Highway Work Planned in Area for 1972 Programs
The Texas Highway Commission approved 1.5 million dollars for 1972 district projects in District 8. The plan covers 159.3 miles including seal coating on U.S. 277 at Stamford, U.S. 83 north to the Taylor County line, FM 704 to FM 142, and redesign of Highway 277 in Haskell at an estimated total.
