August rainfall sets Stamford record for rainfall in 25 years
The month of August brought 10.86 inches of rain in Stamford, surpassing last year’s 10.65 and marking the wettest August in 25 years. Local recorder M. D. Thompson notes the spillway at Lake Stamford overflowed for days, peaking at 1.93 inches above the spillway, while water levels begin to recede but stay near spillway level for a time.
