Eight Operators to Be Added In Stamford Phone Office
Stamford will add eight telephone operators by Sept 18 to handle increased long distance calls. The Stamford office will become the hub for Anson Hamlin and nearby communities, routing calls via microwave to Sweetwater for final delivery. Current 17 operators will rise to 25. daily long distance traffic will grow from about 1,000 to 1,800 calls. Four new operators will transfer from Hamlin. the rest will be hired locally.

A northwestbound MK and T freight derailed near Stamford when a siding switch failed. Five box cars left the tracks. one 75 ton grain car overturned. Engineer George Rollins and crew slowed to about 10 mph as yard crews cleared the main line. By 6:30 pm the main line was repaired and open.

Woman Shot By Pellet In City Park
Mrs. George L. Johnson was wounded in the hip while walking in Harm on Park on Sunday afternoon. X Rays at Stamford Sanitarium show a pellet likely from the surrounding area. She received first aid at Stamford Hospital after being taken to the Owens home. The pellet is embedded two to three inches. The incident occurred about six o'clock.
