Promoters showcase a Friday night program at Stamford City Auditorium headlined by an eight round bout between Woody Windam of Fort Worth and Ross Abernathy of Rotan. Filling Station Robbed of 25 Dollars Near Sunset Service
Anson highway near the city limits saw a lone unmasked bandit take 25 dollars from the Sunset Service Station cash register run by John ny Griggs. The robber forced Mr. and Mrs. Griggs to lie on the floor and ordered Griggs to open the register around 11 30 p m. The crime occurred just outside city limits with Chief Flournoy aiding county officers in the investigation. no clues had been found.

Heaviest Rain In Years Falls Here
Stamford received 5.15 inches of rain on Wednesday with Thursday morning showers pushing the total toward five and a half inches by noon. The downpour was the heaviest in several years, flooding California Creek and threatening the Clear Fork of the Brazos River. Clouds block solar eclipse viewing in the area.

Gasoline Fire Rates Burned Man at Gulf Station
Tommy Rector suffered serious burns to his right hand and face when gasoline ignited as he and Fred Stealman attempted to fill a car at the Gulf Station run by Dick Rowland. Stealman struck a match to view the gauge. Rector remained hospitalized while Stealman was not injured.
