Dave Gillespie a noted Rockdale resident and former tang owner died at his daughter’s home last Saturday. Funeral held Monday at 3 30 p.m. at Rockdale Cemetery with Rev. Ernest Harrison officiating. Barrow Furniture Co of Stamford oversaw arrangements. Survived by four sons Oscar Gus Nick Nate and five daughters Mrs Joe McKeaver Mrs Eugene Martindale Mrs George Boland Mrs John McCown and Mrs Arnold Ivy. Wife preceded him in death over twenty years ago.

Fire destroys Lueders home in uninsured blaze
The home of C. G. Seth occupied by J. D. Harvey burned last Friday in Lueders Texas. No insurance left the building and contents a total loss as inadequate fire equipment hindered five boys from reaching the scene. An attempted robbery at Farmers State Bank failed when nitroglycerine shattered the vault door.

Stamford man burned in Sweetwater cotton buyers fire
Cloyd Adams of Stamford now with O. A. Auburn cotton buyer at Sweetwater suffered slight burns in a fire that caused about 15000 dollars in damage last Saturday. The blaze started in cotton samples in the buyers’ office and spread to another office and a goods store.

Mexican Woman Dies After Sudden Illness
Mrs Alberta Colonga a Mexican woman fell ill at the passenger station Saturday night and died Sunday morning at the Sanitarium. The body was prepared for burial by the Penick Hughes undertaking department and shipped to Marlin for interment at her home.
