Thousands of bales persist in Stamford cotton fields

The Stamford area harvest tops 15 000 bales ginned with about 1 000 more on gin yards after seven weeks of work. Seven gins report totals and backlogs with weather improving and crews expect to catch up by Wednesday night.

Stamford and Jones County Vote in Texas Constitutional Ballot

Stamford and Jones County joined the state in defeating a proposed amendment to triple pay for state legislators. Leonard Carlson to be buried Friday at Bricksdahl

Leonard A. Carlson 75 died early Wednesday at Stamford Memorial Hospital after a five day stay. Funeral is at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Lutheran Church with Rev. Stan Leaf officiating. Burial in Bethel Cemetery. Born December 8, 1897 in New Sweden, he moved to Ericksdahl in 1907 and Stamford in 1912. Survived by sister Vera Marshall of Irving and brother William Carlson of San Antonio.

L E Million Sr a former Stamford post master died Wednesday afternoon from an apparent heart attack. He had been in poor health for several months. Funeral plans were not available at press time.
