Stamford residents designate the last week in November as Clean-Up Week after a breakfast meeting at the Inn. Dick Rowland fire marshal urged tidiness while Judge Chas Coombes praised the plan. The group also backed Armistice Day business holiday November 28 and Thanksgiving December 28. Santa was named for December 3 festivities. Forty five people attended.

Don Raines eleven, son of Mr and Mrs Budley Raines, suffered two fractured vertebrae after falling from a tree Sunday afternoon at his grandmother’s home in Abilene. He’s at Stamford Sanitarium for examination and treatment and will receive a cast soon. He is a sixth grade student at Stamford Junior High School.

Methodists Set New Record in Meeting Budget
St John’s Methodist church reported a new financial record with all obligations met two weeks before year end. The fourth quarterly conference noted 104 members joined or were received, net gain of 53, and 51 professed faith while 53 joined by certificate. Rev. W. Carl Clement plans to leave November 15 for Northwest Texas Conference in Pampa. Rev. T. M. Johnston will depart earlier for bishop’s cabinet duties in Pampa. Officials for the coming year, including district and church officers, were elected, with J. C Bryant and J. T. Brown chosen for one year trustees and R. C. Thomas named on missions board.
