Three major Armistice Day events are planned in Stamford next Wednesday. A 10 o'clock parade leads to an 11 am city auditorium program, followed by an Ex-Service Men's Feed at night. The American Legion chairs the celebrations and invites all organizations and individuals to join the march.
The Odd Fellows lodge ratified sale of its southeast square lot to J P Astin for about 5000 dollars. Final papers await closure. Astin’s plans remain unknown as the lodge seeks a new site for a future building.
Concrete curbs and gutters on South Wetherbee street started Wednesday morning as Thurber Construction Company undertakes the first paving work on up-town streets. Onlookers watched rapid progress from the southeast corner of the square while East Reynolds street curbs and gutters, by the Mith Brothers, also advance after starting last week.

Record crowds witnessed the showing of the Ten Commandments at Alcove Theatre Tuesday and Wednesday nights. A large audience was anticipated for Thursday night the final showing. The film is regarded as one of the greatest ever made and has upheld its reputation in Stamford. The American editor hopes to attend Thursday night as well.
Construction by T. A. Upshaw and Judge B. P. Davenport progresses rapidly on East Hamilton street two new structures. Laying bricks began Tuesday with strong progress. One building will house Yates Drug Store and the other Lawson's Meat Market.

The American's Mis Spelled word contest awarded first prize of $1.50 to W. T. Phillips the poatmaster. Second prize to Mrs Black Little and third to Mrs T R Norrod. The contest continues with prizes unchanged and honorees listed for missed spellings.
Stamford hosts the opening program for the Municipal Auditorium with Marshals of the Day, Master of Ceremonies, and a varied programme. The event features the Stamford Firemen's Band, the Baby Symphony Orchestra, vocal solos, choral club numbers, and community addresses, with readings and audience participation. The program includes musical selections by the Pierian Club and the Stamford Music Club, and piano by Hall Music Company.
Stamford’s Gene Overton has been declared ineligible and the team is out of the district race after all games he played in were forfeited. The ruling, announced by Roy B Henderson in Austin, follows a distance-home comparison showing Overton lived closer to Haskell than Stamford. Nominations pour in for salesladies with votes earned by subscriptions, plus optional model exchanges and home purchase aid. The office in Stamford, Texas, will feature the car on exhibition at the Buick Garage until the winning name is chosen.
Police recovered all papers from the safe cracking at Rugsel Hrothera Garage on South Wetherbee Street. The stash was found near a mesquite tree by Night Policeman Davis, along with a five dollar bill. About 100 dollars in cash remained unaccounted for. Authorities, led by Chief G G Flournoy, say the crime was the work of an expert, with identity believed but no arrest yet.
St Johns Methodist Church conducts a fund drive to clear about 7500 dollars of debt with 5500 raised so far. Proceeds pay for art glass window repairs, organ, and heating system. Pastor Rev. D B Doak prepares to attend Canyon conference. Flower Show dates have been shifted to November 16 17 and 19.
Mr and Mrs L H Hay and family from El Paso visited the home of Mr and Mrs J W Hay in New Light. They planned to travel to Dickens county to pick cotton.
