Unusual Record Made By Pupils In High School

Stamford High School reports strong six week results with 70 percent overall passing in all subjects and 88 percent in a majority. Out of district pupils excel with 79 percent passing all subjects and 100 percent in three or more subjects. Cotton Ginning Ahead of Last Year in Jones County

Census figures show 18 478 bales ginned in Jones County from the 1935 crop before October 18, up from 17 133 bales on October 18, 1934. Local gins reported 5 034 bales ginned to date, exceeding 3 770 two weeks earlier though activity paused briefly due to bad weather and resumed on Tuesday.

A second Cowboys Will Rogers Memorial Fund chapter opened in the area to raise money for a lasting memorial to the humorist. Fort Worth started the first club earlier this week. Pledge Drive Aims for Stamford Chamber Budget

Slightly more than $200 per month has been pledged to fund an expanded program for the Stamford Chamber of Commerce. The goal is $300 monthly, with a city appropriation of $100, totaling $400 per month. A committee led by Rayford B. Hills canvasses business establishments for subscriptions.

Rotary Club Meeting To Feature Government Official Address

Lueders Refinery Expands to 24 Hour Operations

The Panhandle Refinery at Lueders now runs around the clock with three shifts, using Jones county crude oil. New equipment raises output to the same high grade as Wichita Falls plant. Distillate and fuel oil are sold by the Lueders refinery.

Bailey Transferred to Albuquerque District of Methodist Church

Rev. W. G. Bailey longtime pastor of St. John’s Methodist Church has been named presiding elder of the Albuquerque New Mexico district, covering New Mexico and Colorado including Santa Fe Pueblo Colorado Springs and Denver. He may depart next week to begin new duties as announced by Bishop H A Boaz at the New Mexico Conference in El Paso. Three Auto Crash Victims Brought To Stamford Sanitarium

Three men injured in separate auto accidents were treated at Stamford Sanitarium. Anson boy 18 Pope Jr. suffered a compound leg fracture after being struck near Anson. B V McNelly of Ranger had concussion and severe scalp lacerations. L C Ivy of Aspermont endured scalp wounds from a highway collision four miles south of Haskell. Henry Melton of Haskell and Clarence Ivy were only mildly hurt.

King's Highway Sermon Series Planned by Rogan at Presbyterian

Rev. Wm. F. Rogan of the Presbyterian Church will launch a sermon series titled The King's Highway with four talks on Strangers and Pilgrims, The Life of Separation, God's Way Not Ours, and Till We Pass The Borders. Services run Sundays at 7:30 pm, plus morning worship, Sunday School at 9:45, youth program at 6:30, and midweek stewardship study beginning Wednesday at 7 pm. Rigs Move In For Two New Wells In Oil Area

Equipment is being moved in for two new wells southwest of Stamford this week. One site is F W Peckham and W H Peckham No 1 City of Stamford near the east end of a long settling basin. The other is Reliance Oil Company Miss Ida Crow No 1 west of Avoca with a slush pit dug and drilling underway. Nearby activity includes Bridwell & Fikes and Humphrey & Guiberson wells at various depths and conditions.
