Lueders Avoca High School to Graduates May 21
Nine seniors six girls and three boys will graduate from Lueders Avoca High Friday night at 7 pm in the Lueders Cafetorium. Dr Bill Austin of Hardin Simmons University will deliver the address with Liz Davis as valedictorian and Keith Clifton as salutatorian. County delegates chosen for Democratic convention
Five Stamford area residents will join Jones County delegates at the state Democratic convention in September. Stamford residents Debbie Goodrich Kenneth Carlton Bill Longley and Charles Stenholm and Avoca resident Yvonne Hansen will attend. Other delegates include Peggy Bonds James Lain from Hamlin Mrs Clyde Chancey of Merkel and Mrs Tommy Nix Herman Reeves and F A Lollar of Anson. Uncommitted delegates are Bonds Lain Hansen and Nix. Over 50 county residents attended the May 13 Jones County Democratic convention in Anson, including many listed as present. The convention adopted resolutions praising Stenholm, backing party rules, urging ballot showings of hometowns, and calling a Meet the Candidates rally before the next primary.
