Stamford High School Bulldogs opened their 1936 schedule with a 10 to 0 victory over the All-Stars in a Monday practice at Bulldog Field. Orville McCann scored a 65 yard TD on a late second quarter run, and McCann added another in the fourth as the Bulldogs outgained the All-Stars 162 to 76 while completing three passes.

Stamford Home Demonstration Club Meets in Haskell County
The South Stamford Home Demonstration Club met at Mrs. Fred Schoenerstedt’s home in Haskell County. They discussed the upcoming county fair in November and planned entries, held games led by Mrs. E. M. McGilvary, and reviewed ideas from the Stamford American Cooking School. Attendees included M. W. Tarlton, John Jelovsky, Iredell Rogers, C. W. Forrells, Henry Rogers, Carl Rogers, Ruby Miller, and the hostess. The next meeting is May 21 with Mrs. Carl Rogers and Jewel Faulkner will give a demonstration.

Mrs Lee Snyder Dies in Texas Sunday Morning
Mrs. Lee Snyder 42 wife of an oil field worker died at Stamford Sanitarium Sunday at 2 am from kidney complications. Buried at Mitchell cemetery near Cisco after services conducted by Rev L R O'Brien and Rev Rex Kendall. Survived by husband eight sons three daughters and several brothers and a sister.

Hospital Day Observed at Stamford Sanitarium
Annual Hospital Day welcomed more than 200 visitors with 75 newborns attending the homecoming. Moving pictures were shot by Dr. L F Metz and a baby book photo was taken by Tommie Rector at 4 p.m. The hospital and clinic buildings featured spring arrangements and flowers. The Church of Christ donated side table covers and the Music Club performed. Punch was served in the clinic.

Institute Held For Young Methodists Here Last Week
An Institute for the Methodist Ever Ready Young People's Union of Stamford District was held in Stamford Thursday through Saturday. Readied West Texas Pool Promises Scenic Grounds Opening
The municipal swimming pool in Readiness is set to open Friday May 15 with $18 000 in PWA grant and loan support. Grounds improvements include landscaping 30 shade trees terraced bermuda lawn flagstone walks native stone seating cyclone fencing and enhanced streets for muddy weather. Gordon Haynes returns as pool manager and the 60 by 120 foot concrete pool was built last year at a cost of 10 000 using relief labor.

Lueders Man J H Williams Dies of Heart Attack
J H Williams 46 longtime Central Stone Company supervisor died at his Lueders home at 10 am after experiencing illness. He had worked 15 years with the firm, previously in Houston, and moved to Lueders 10 months ago. Born April 2, 1890 in Oklahoma, he was a Pentecostal Church member. Survivors include parents in Stillwell Oklahoma four daughters from Bakersfield Houston Irving and two sons. Funeral planned in Stillwell Saturday.

Fred Gommert Injured as Lantern Ignites Gasoline
Fred Gommert of seven miles northwest of Stamford was badly burned Tuesday night when a lantern ignited a gasoline storage tank used for a tractor. He suffered burns to his right hand and arm and to his left hand wrist and face and was taken to the Stamford Sanitarium. Gommert resides on the Hilscher farm in the Bunker Hill community.

Funeral service for John C Ray held at First Baptist
John Calvin Ray 74 died at his Hanna addition home after a year’s illness from heart involvement. A native of Angelina county, he lived in Kaufman Hamilton and Stamford before settling in the area fourteen years ago. He worked at Stamford Cotton Oil Mill until ill health forced retirement. Survived by widow Sallie Truitt Ray, a son J C Ray of Stamford, two daughters M R Baldree Aspermont and Mrs B Morris Stamford, and fourteen grandchildren. Interment in Highland cemetery Kinney Funeral Home in charge.
