At the Mother's Day service the oldest mother received flowers from the Adult department while the mother with the most sons in attendance was honored with a corsage. Mrs. W. E. Swanson was named oldest mother present but questioned if others were older. Mrs. J. L. Fuqua, mother of two sons in the service, received the corsage. Robert, one son stationed in Hawaii, sent red roses for Mother’s Day.

Mrs Bess Womack Dies in Duncan Oklahoma
Mrs. Bess Womack mother of Mrs. A M G Swenson of this city died last Friday afternoon at a hospital in Duncan Oklahoma after an operation. Funeral service was held Sunday at Duncan where the family had lived for a number of years. Mr and Mrs Swenson had gone to Duncan Wednesday to be with her. Mrs Womack was known to Stamford residents and had visited here from time to time with her daughter and family.

Training Director Joins Stamford Flying School
Capt. J H Ender is assigned as training director at Stamford Flying School after a career in the Army Air Forces. James A. Sullivan age 59 died at home near Merkel Monday night after about a year of ill health. He moved from Avoca to Jones County in 1907 and later to a nearby area. Funeral held Wednesday at 3 p.m. with Rev. Joel Grimes officiating. burial in Highland cemetery. He was born June 28 in Rock Island and adopted by the Sharp family. Survived by wife Fannie Gramerbaur, son Sgt. Joseph, and several siblings and relatives.
