Brighams Attend Texas Tech Recognition Day Celebration
Mr and Mrs Floyd Brigham visited Lubbock for Texas Tech recognition day and the Memorial Circle dedication. Their son Raymond, a sophomore, joined the honor students in the service for the second year. Fellow Stamford student Bill Cannon also made the honor roll. Brigham leads in Phi Eta Sigma and the male chorus. Stamford Garden Club hosts a spring flower show on May 6 at the Stamford Country Club from 5 to 9 p.m.

Only Six More Men Needed to Launch Stamford Unit of National Guard
Captain C W Tayman announced that Stamford must recruit six more men to gain Federal recognition for a National Guard unit. The Chamber of Commerce endorsed a $250000 headquarters plan with 200 volunteers, remodeling a local airport building, requisitioning 37 vehicles, and a payroll projected at 38000 annually for part time staff plus 8000 for permanent personnel. Enlistments are urged at 105 West McHarg. 18 to 35 year olds urged to apply. Members will be exempt from draft and can access recreation facilities once operational. Pay ranges from 250 per night for privates to 550 and up for sergeants. Openings exist for officers and enlisted men.

Stamford Team Drops Doubleheader to Lubbock in Field Dedication
Stamford loses both home league games to the Lubbock Bluebonnets in a Saturday doubleheader marking the field dedication. Gloria Gibson Leaves Hospital After Leg Break
Gloria Gibson was dismissed from the hospital on Monday with her left leg set in a brace to aid sitting and mobility in a wheelchair. The seven year old had broken the same leg again, a prior amputation occurred below the knee last year after a fall while using crutches.

Mother of Mrs Henry Andrews Dies in Cisco
Mrs. W. P. Ledbetter age 66 of Cisco died Friday morning after a two week illness. Funeral held Saturday at 3 p.m. Scranton Methodist Church. Survivors include husband 11 children 18 grandchildren and many Stamford residents attended.
