Stamford Man Set for Navy Academy Graduation
Midshipman Wayne Cox of Stamford, son of Mr and Mrs Herman Cox, is a candidate for graduation from the U S Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland. He will receive a bachelor of science degree and be commissioned an ensign in the U S Navy at graduation ceremonies ending June Week on June 8. Cox joined the Antiphonal Choir engineering club and foreign language club and served as a company representative for the Naval Academy Christian Association during his senior year. He is a Stamford High School graduate and attended Arlington State College for one year before entering Annapolis.

City Fireman To Compete For Honors
Stamford fireman J. E. Lawson will enter a statewide contest for the longest continuous fire service in Texas. All-State Insurance awards an all expenses trip and honors. Lawson joined as a volunteer on August 5, 1915, and has served nearly 45 years. His son Bill Lawson serves in the regular force.
