Stamford junior and senior high girls earned superior I ratings at the Texas Inter scholastic League festival in Brownwood for singing sight reading. Soloists and piano players also received superior or excellent marks under SHS director W F E Mayes and local instructors. The high school band later competes in Abi ne and will attend a concert and sight reading festival in San Angelo on April 30.

Remodeling Plans At St Johns Methodist Church
St Johns Methodist Church hired an architect for general remodeling and redecorating of the sanctuary. Estimates will take about three weeks to prepare and be reviewed by the official board and possibly the membership. Council Debates Remodeling Tax Increase and 20 Year Plan
Stamford city council heard about a remodeling program funded by a 32 cent per $100 assessment with a 20 year amortization. The plan targets City Hall fire station auditorium and library with a $350000 bond and could drop below current rates after nine years. An architect quoted nearly 350000 in remodeling costs and a 30 year option would add 340000 in interest.

Girl Nine Needs Blood Donors for Heart Surgery
Ida Escobedo a nine year old from Bomar Heights elementary in Stamford requires a heart operation in Dallas on April 21 for an interventricular septal defect. Donors with type A positive blood are urged to contact the American aid center and be available in Dallas at surgery time.
