John Curd Dies Here at 62 After Illness
John Delbert Curd, 62, died Thursday March 20 at 8 p m in the Colonial Hotel where he and his wife operated for a year. He had been ill two weeks after hospital treatment and returned home. Funeral at Central Christian Church Saturday 10:30 a m Rev Clifford Thomas officiated. Burial Highland Cemetery with Kinney Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include his wife a son J P D Curd Jr of Refugio three daughters and seven grandchildren and three brothers and a sister.

The Jones County Implement Co. dealers in Minneapolis will open at 222 South Swenson next Wednesday after noon. A free show titled Men With a Mission will start at 1 PM at the Palace theatre. Local manager is W H Beights from Loraine and service chief is Herman Cox. Beights recently discharged from five years in the Navy and he and Mrs Beights have bought a home at 505 South Trinity. The firm occupies a new quonset hut type building and will offer a complete service department and Rite-Way Milkers among other farm items. The free show will end in time for farmers to attend the afternoon auction.

Residence Destroyed by Lightning Fire On North Swenson Ave
Lightning struck the home of Mrs. W. W. Clark on North Swenson avenue injuring no one but leaving the residence completely destroyed. The Clark family barely escaped in night clothes as flames consumed the house and contents. Insurance covered part of the loss and follow up plans include relocation to Fort Worth.

Tommie Rector Reopens Studio in Stamford After War Service
Tommie Rector, who ran a Stamford picture studio before enlisting in 1942, has reopened his studio on North Swansea near the State theater. He served three years two months with the Eighth Division and the 384th Port Battalion in the Signal Corps, amassing combat photographs from Monte Cassino and several Italian locations. Rector will offer commercial work, portraits, and Kodak finishing.
