Mrs. Nelda Sue Pierce 29 of Knox City and Stamford died Saturday after a one day illness. Funeral was held Monday at Knox City Baptist Church with Rev. K E Wooley officiating assisted by Rev. Roger Butler. She was born July 2 1939 in Bomarton and later lived in Knox City Stamford and Benjamin. Survivors include her husband Frank Pierce four sons and her parents.

The 30 singers directed by Sid Martin competed with about 1500 singers from across the state, joined by five sponsors and accompanied by Mrs. George Humphrey. A local trio, Siri Boedeker, Ronda Johnson, and Marilee Million, also won Superior honors.

Man Sentenced To Two Years For Murder
An Abi lene man, 73, received a two year term in the state penitentiary after being convicted of murder without malice in 104th District Court at Anson. The jury verdict was returned Tuesday afternoon after testimony on Monday and Tuesday. Judge J Neil Daniel set the punishment. Ratliff shot and killed a man last June on the Wade Ford parking lot at the Anson VFW club, claiming self defense.
