Stamford Electric Cooperative Inc. re-elected directors and officers at the annual membership meeting Saturday at Roundup Hall. About 350 attended despite bad weather. Vice president H L Osment led in president Dr Hugo Haterius absence. C M Lester reported the cooperative was $200,000 ahead on government payments and 260 new members were served. Officers re-elected: Haterius president Osment vice president George J Smith secretary treasurer. Board members re-elected: E W Carlson Ed Fouts John H Agnew W A Montgomery R P Nunneley E W Simpson. Disaster Drives Red Cross Quotas in Four-State Area
An Arkansas Tennessee Mississippi and Missouri disaster spurred a $490 addition to the Red Cross Drive quota. Roy Mayes of Anson County says the disaster peak requires at least $5,000,000 extra and the appeal will merge with the annual campaign. Local totals include Jones County $5414.89 toward a new $7991 goal, Stamford $17,738.81, Anson $1264, Hamlin $1430, and rural area $98408 with several smaller donations reported.
