More than 500 Stamford Electric Cooperative members and guests attended the annual meeting at Round-Up Hall. Nine board members were re elected. Dr Hugo B Hinterius president opened the session with remarks. Reports were given by secretary treasurer George Smith and manager CM Lester. Forty five awards totaling about 450 were presented. Prizes included appliances from Stamford Electric and gifts from Westinghouse Graybar and Buie Implement. A board meeting followed at the new West McHarg avenue building to select officers and discuss matters.

A L Conner 74 farmer four miles south of Stamford died Monday at 1 50 PM in Methodist hospital Lubbock. He had traveled between here and Lubbock for four months. Fred Williams Implement Firm Owner Dies at 61 in Stamford
Fred Williams, local implement dealer in Stamford for about 12 years, died Monday at 8:50 am at Harris Memorial Hospital in Fort Worth after multiple hospitalizations since January 4. Funeral services were held Tuesday at First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Calvin Knight. Burial followed at Highland Memorial. Williams, born February 24, 1887 in Louisville Texas, married Ella Coor in 1914. Survived by wife, two sons Leonard and Excell, two daughters in Fort Worth, six grandchildren, two brothers, seven sisters, and several in laws and relatives. He had lived in Stamford, Hamlin, and Hamilton, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Odd Fellows Lodge.

Stamford Coffee Shop installs a new charcoal powered chicken barbecue machine producing whole chickens with hickory smoke. The automatic unit can cook up to 16 at once with juices from one meat resting on another as the spit turns. Owner Clif Grantham says the chicken is juicy and tender with true smoke flavor, available to dine in or take out. ribs are also processed and sold for here or to go.

Culver Dominates Texas Meet With Two Wins and Record
Rose Marie Culver of Leeders High School won the broad jump and both the 50 and 220 yard dashes at the Texas Olympic Meet in Somerset. She set a new record in one event and finished second in the 75 and 100 yard races. Lueders placed second in team scoring with 28 points as Three Rivers led with 38 points. Charlene Davis of Lueders took third in the 50 yard dash and fourth in the 75 yard dash.
