Local Boys Hurt In Wreck Here Sunday Night
Two local youths were injured in an automobile crash about three miles north of Stamford on US 277 Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Driver Wayne Raley tried to pass a cattle truck but collided with an oncoming car. Raley and passenger Jimmy Watson were treated at Stamford Memorial Hospital. Watson was released and Raley recovered a few days later.

The annual Jones County Singing Convention will be held in Anson on Sunday April 4 with several outstanding singers expected to attend. President is T D McKinney of Stamford. The Ericksdahl Water Supply Corp accepted bids for a new water distribution system. Cavanaugh Construction Co submitted the apparent low bid of 137835.21 with an alternate of 132004.65. The project includes 168 contract days, a 50000 gallon storage tank, 150400 feet of pipeline, and funding via a 161290 FHA loan plus 5550 from the corporation. The Stamford Electric Cooperative will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday March 17 at Roundup Hall on the Texas Cowboy Reunion grounds. State Approval Expected For Local Water Supply

Thorn Recovering After Fall in Abandoned Cistern
Roy Thorn Jones County clerk is recovering at Anson General Hospital after a fall into an old cistern while wrecking a house he owned. He was trapped about four hours before his son and a companion found him, with Anson fire department helping to extract him. A back brace is being fitted and he may be discharged within the week.

Stamford Council Approves Chamber Directors and Health Reforms
The Stamford City Council approved six directors for the Stamford Chamber of Commerce for the coming year James High Gerald Proctor Wylie B Harrison Robert E Hartgraves Robert Duggan and Charles Coln.
