New Hope Boy Wins Swine Division at Livestock Show
The 4-H Club Livestock show at Stamford crowned a 9 year old Dempsey Belding of New Hope with the heavy gilt grand champion of the swine division. About 60 swine entered. bidders paid 10 1/4 to 12 1/2 cents per pound, with total sales around 1250 dollars. A parade, feeds, and judging by Texas A&M specialists highlighted a day of community turnout and school support.

Lueders Junior Girls Capture County Trophy
Lueders Senior High School girls basketball team won the county trophy at Noodle last Friday and swept all three divisions of girls basketball this year. The junior high boys team beat Hamlin 13 to 12 but lost to Hawley 26 to 16 in the semifinals. The Iris basketball club plans a boys tournament March 6 7 and 8 with sixteen teams chosen by chance. The Junior class presents Tiger House on March 5 at the high school auditorium with new scenery and sound gear and a thunder storm scene.

Dr Tilman Johnson Dies in New Rochelle New York
Dr Tillman B Johnson a longtime Baptist minister died in New Rochelle New York on Tuesday afternoon. He served the church there for more than 12 years and was survived by his wife three daughters two sons and several relatives. He was son of the late A H Johnson and pioneer Jones county residents. The funeral was held there Thursday afternoon.

Fires Break Out Across Towns as Windstorm Rages
Stamford Fire Department assisted Hamlin and Aspermont amid severe windstorms. Seven firemen and one pumper remained in Stamford while two trucks and 11 men aided Aspermont, where two residences burned, and Hamlin, where a warehouse at the oil mill burned. A separate blaze at J. M. Alexander rent house damaged roof, with more losses for local residents including the Cobbs, a newly insured couple whose home was destroyed.

Funeral Service Held Wednesday For L. G. Prince
Funeral services for L. G. Prince were held Wednesday at 10 o clock at the First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dickitrien. Burial followed in Highland Cemetery. Prince died Monday night at 11 46 at Stamford Sanitarium after about two weeks of illness. He was born in Stamford on June 1, 1920 and lived there most of his life. Survivors include his mother and stepfather Mrs. and Mr. M. & Larehe four brothers Dallas Dale Jack and Kenneth Prince and a sister Lena Larehe Pallbearers were J. E. Jackson Clint Hogan Ray Williams Adrian Marshall Rey Brooks and J. M. Wilson.
