Debating laurels for Winfred Rucker in Abilene contest
Winfred Rucker son of J L Rucker Stamford, part of San Marcos Teachers' lodge debut team which placed second among 35 teams at Abilene Christian College on February 10 and 11. Rucker and teammate Clyce Ibern won seven debates and two in the tournament reaching the finals, defeating Oklahoma, Colorado and Kansas state teams. He was named vice president of the Jeffersonian Liver y Society for the spring series.

Maury Davis Dies After Three Month Illness
Maury Davis aged 35 died at home Saturday after a three month illness. The Kinney Funeral Home prepared the body and carried it to Abilene for emering and shipping to Belmont Mississippi. Funeral services were held in Dennis Mississippi with burial in Joel cemetery. Survivors include his mother Mrs J R Davis and six brothers Peter Noel Warren Billie vis of Stamford and Cecil and Davis of Ballinger.

Fleming to Join Goodyear in Stamford Assignment
Frank Fleming, long time at Rule Implement Company, will start with Goodyear Tire and Rubber on March 1. He will work at the Goodyear store in Stamford for six weeks then attend a Dallas company school before taking other duties possibly elsewhere. District Rally Launches Methodist Youth Crusade Led by Bishop Holt
