Stamford High all sports banquet to honor athletes

Board Extends Contracts for Stamford Coaches and Principals

The Stamford board of trustees renewed contracts for coaches and the high school principal through the 1968 69 school year with salary increases for the principal and several coaches. Driver education cars will be supplied by local dealers in rotation. Norris Russell will judge the April 1 election naming two trustees. Tickets for the banquet honoring the school’s seniors and coaches are $2 59 and available at local banks, the Chamber of Commerce and clubs.

Mustangs Invade Austin For State Title

The Avoca Mustangs travel to Austin for the state finals with a strong season record and a history of success. Under coach Clayton Brooks, the team aims to claim another championship after past top finishes in 1953 1954 and 1955.

Spencer Billington earns praise for paintings in Sacramento exhibit

Stamford native Spencer Billington now of Rancho Cordova has paintings shown in Sacramento with reproductions in the Sacramento Bee. Cotton Growers Set Annual Meeting March 2 Here

The Rolling Plains Cotton Growers Inc. will hold its annual meeting at 2 p.m. on Thursday in Stamford High School auditorium. Two speakers James Parker of the American Manufacturers Institute and Carl Cox of the Cotton Economic Research Committee will discuss cotton quality and mechanical classing. Permit Granted for New Home at 1211 Elizabeth Street

City inspector Dick Rowland issued the first building permit of the year to T. H. Duff to construct a house at 1211 Elizabeth Street. Duff, a retired architect who has moved here, will serve as his own contractor with an estimated cost of $10,000.
