About four score Stamford High School athletes and managers will be honored Monday night at the annual all sports banquet. The event, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and civic groups, begins at 7 o clock at the National Guard Armory. Jerry Boles, pastor of Cen- (text cut)
The Stamford board of trustees renewed contracts for coaches and the high school principal through the 1968 69 school year with salary increases for the principal and several coaches. Driver education cars will be supplied by local dealers in rotation. Norris Russell will judge the April 1 election naming two trustees. Tickets for the banquet honoring the school’s seniors and coaches are $2 59 and available at local banks, the Chamber of Commerce and clubs.
The Avoca Mustangs travel to Austin for the state finals with a strong season record and a history of success. Under coach Clayton Brooks, the team aims to claim another championship after past top finishes in 1953 1954 and 1955.
Stamford native Spencer Billington now of Rancho Cordova has paintings shown in Sacramento with reproductions in the Sacramento Bee. The Rolling Plains Cotton Growers Inc. will hold its annual meeting at 2 p.m. on Thursday in Stamford High School auditorium. Two speakers James Parker of the American Manufacturers Institute and Carl Cox of the Cotton Economic Research Committee will discuss cotton quality and mechanical classing. President J B Cooper Jr of Roscoe announced new director nominations across 22 of 32 counties.
A sonic boom last Thursday cracked the County Judge Leon Thurman office window and damaged the County Clerk Roy Thorn office and other windows around Anson. Glass scattered on the floor of the judge’s north side courthouse office.
City inspector Dick Rowland issued the first building permit of the year to T. H. Duff to construct a house at 1211 Elizabeth Street. Duff, a retired architect who has moved here, will serve as his own contractor with an estimated cost of $10,000.

A fire damaged an unoccupied apartment in the 400 block of Fast Reynolds Street on Wednesday night February 22 during remodeling. The owner listed is Dee Arrott of Abilene. Stamford firefighters received the call at 2 20 p.m.
Stamford Electric Cooperative will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday March 15 at Coombes Roundup Hall in Stamford. Members will hear officer director and committee reports elect nine directors. Directors nominated include Carlson Fouts Haterius Lewis Nunneley Osment Overton Rainwater Smith. special entertainment and a speaker will be featured with door prizes including cash certificates.
