The Fourth Annual Convention of Texas Affiliated Exchange Clubs met in Stamford on June 22 and claimed to be the largest and most constructive yet. W G Swenson was elected state president with a slate of officers, Austin chosen as 1930 host city, and the event featured a public two day format and a novelty cow-hand round up entertainment at Swenson Land and Cattle Co Flat Top Ranch.

New Head of Texas Exchange Clubs Has Record of Service
W G Swenson elected president of the Texas Affiliated Exchange Clubs at the fourth annual convention held here June 22. A Stamford native and UT graduate, he has long aided civic, social and commercial improvement. A WWII veteran, he led local Company K 142nd Infantry and helped organize the unit. Swenson has served on the School Board, Harmony Playground panel, American Legion leader, Stamford Chamber of Commerce president, Carnegie Library board member, and Red Cross supporter.

Revival Brings 41 Additions To Lueders Church
The Lueders Baptist church revival ended Sunday night with 41 additions by baptism and several by letter. Rev. T. L. Kilpatrick reported 42 professions and four men surrender for the ministry, including Floyd Brown. Brown will preach July second Sunday at Lueders. Others surrendering were Lee Dewees of Stamford and Mr. White and Ernest Bigham of Leeders. Thirty-one baptized last Sunday. ten more to be baptized next Sunday. The revival was conducted by the pastor.

Mrs. R. O. Carothers Dies at Stamford Sanitarium
Mrs. R. O. Carothers Rule died of pellagra Friday night at Stamford Sanitarium. Funeral preparations were handled by Penick-Hughes Funeral Home and the body sent to Rochester for interment. She was a distant relative of G. C. Carothers. Mrs. G. C. Carothers and her children attended the Rochester funeral.

Scouts Rally At Camp Tonkawa Near Lueders
Scouts from Hamlin Anson and Stamford assemble at Camp Tonkawa on the Clear Fork near Lueders for a 24 hour Jones county rally. The event runs 9 am July 5 to 9 am July 6 under Chisholm Trail Areas Council with Ed Ehumway and James P. Stinson present. Rotary and Lions clubs provide transport and meals. boys bring food and gear. Contests include archery signaling and swimming.

Circle Drill Team Exhibition Planned at City Auditorium

Contract Awarded For Another Link In Highway No 30
The Texas State Highway Commission let a contract for 13 miles of concrete pavement in Knox county from Baylor county to the Haskell county line. The project advances Highway 30 toward full hard surface across the state, with other segments in progress in Anson Stamford and surrounding areas. Road 18 from Stamford to Shackleford is nearly complete, and work continues on Highway 92 from Stamford to Hamlin.

Mrs. Matilda Boyd Dies Here at 86
Mrs. Matilda Boyd died here on Sunday June 23. Born October 19, 1842, she was over 86 at death. She lived with Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Corley and was the grandmother of Mrs. Corley. Kinney Undertaking prepared the body. Funeral was Monday at 10 a.m. in Funston conducted by A. R. Lawrence of Abilene. Interment followed in Funston cemetery.

A. W. Hooten, a longtime Stamford settler from California creek, died in the city on Thursday June 20 at 78. Born February 28 1851 in Tennessee, he left a daughter Mrs John Hegan and a son Charlie Hooten in the Navy. Funeral at John Hogan home June 21 with Rev M B Harris and burial in Highland cemetery. Kinney Funeral Co. in charge.
