The downpour helped stock water and cooled hot weather, delaying water-use restrictions as City Manager Grady Bowdry noted storage and pumping limits.

Lonelle Jones daughter of Mr and Mrs Chris Jones won the junior memory work at the Texas Training Union Conference in Arlington last weekend. A perfect score on 50 Scriptures and 30 Bible characters, plus showcasing knowledge at First Baptist Church, led her to victory. Stamford winners also placing high included Mary Beth Gentry six, Max Moody six, Jeannie Sitton five, and Mrs Ross Gentry third in adult devotional. Retired Sagerton Farmer Drowns In Cisterna
The body of J. H. Bush, 79, a retired farmer living with his son near Sagerton, was recovered from a cistern at 9 30 Thursday morning. Justice of the Peace Ren M Hees ruled the inquest verdict accidental drowning. Bush born March 23 1860 in Missouri married to Georgia Earnest April 11 Isa at Pontotoc Texas. He is survived by his wife and four daughters and a son. Investigating officials were Curtis Pogue D P Fuller J F Cadenhead and Dr W W Plasek Rule. The dead man bore a cut over the right eye and other lacerations. Mr Bush formerly lived at Old Glory.
