Mrs. Whitley 68 Avoca Resident Buried Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. W. B. Whitley a lifelong Avoca resident who died Sunday at Stamford Memorial Hospital after a six day illness were held Monday at Kinney Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Eugene Matthews and the Rev. Joel Grimes officiated. burial followed at Spring Creek Cemetery. She was born Jennie Cleary in Avoca on July 25 1899 and married W. B. Whitley in Haskell on November 27 1920. Survivors include her husband ten children two sisters ten grandchildren and other relatives. Pallbearers were A C Humphrey Ervin Moody Willie Ferguson Joe Benton Truman Masters and Charlie Morrow.

County HD Clubs Rally Day At Anson June 15
Nine home demonstration clubs hosted five minutes of entertainment each at the HD rally day in Anson Park. A noontime picnic lunch was provided by Anson merchants. In the afternoon a council meeting reviewed club activities led by president Mrs. H. A. Haynes. Hat parties planned for Hamlin August 2 and Stamford August 3. Booths for the county fair and a leader training session on home laundering in Stamford June 30 with Mrs. Travis Horton were announced. two from each club will attend.
