Stamford will officially open its improved municipal airport Saturday with parachute jumps, a flyover by F102 jets, drum and bugle corps music, and displays from Fort Sill and Fort Wolters. Dignitaries include Charley Murphy, Harry Whitworth, Hugh Lyon, Rep. Calhoun, and Rep. Jones. The event anticipates many spectators and a noon lunch, with the project costing over 120000 dollars funded by federal and state contributions and the city.

Three Stamford band students Pamela Richards Sharon Richards and Tommie Denson will attend the 22nd McMurry College Band and Swirling School in Abilene July 13 26. Directed by Dr. Raymond T. Emergency Care Transport Course Set for Abilene
A free three day course on emergency care and transport of the sick and injured will be held June 24 to 26 at Hendrick Memorial Hospital in Abilene. Stamford firemen police will attend along with local officials and ambulance crews. Attendees include ambulance attendants policemen firemen nurses safety engineers rescue squads and others from a 75 mile area. The Texas State Department of Health and the Taylor Jones County Medical Society sponsor it.
