The City of Stamford will receive an additional 113100 in federal grants to build a new sewage disposal plant and add sewer collection lines. The total grants reach 373700 with a 255000 revenue bond, enabling projects previously dropped for cost reasons.
Enis Bishop named president of the Stamford Lions Club with George Thompson presiding at Cliff House. Mrs. Robert Bird installed as Lioness president, succeeding Don Rose and Mrs. Glen McCandless. Dignitaries included Irvin Hyler and George Campbell. Other officers listed. Lion of the Year awarded to E W Mickler. City to sponsor dog vaccination session June 20 at the school with a $2 per dog cost.
Stam ford Memorial Hospital reported 62 patients Tuesday morning, 12 above rated capacity. Administrator John Martin said spaces were limited but most patients found rooms later. The hospital seeks a 24 bed addition with a $100,000 grant from the Maby Foundation to cover part of the cost. an extension to the original grant is being pursued.
The city invites applications at city hall for five summer jobs under a federal program. Open to disadvantaged boys ages 16 to 22 or Viet Nam veterans. Deadline 5 pm Monday. Positions in parks and street department with minimum wage and 32 to 40 hours weekly, as announced by City Manager H K Macomber.

Wheat harvesting accelerates with most fields expected to finish this weekend while cotton planting lags due to recent rains. Maize stands solid and plowed in, crop conditions look good though weed pressure may increase across the area. Prices weakened from 2.60 to 2.40 with a small rebound to 2.45 on Tuesday.
An immunization clinic for preschool children will be June 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Community Kindergarten. Children will receive the DTP combination shot or measles vaccine with oral polio option, based on individual need, as part of a monthly program by the Chamber of Commerce and State Health Department.
