State Opens Bids for Oil Mill Road Project

The Texas Highway Department advertises bids to build a farm to market road from Highway 277 west to the Tuxedo community known as Oil Mill Road. Bids due Wednesday August 18 in Austin for grading structures base and surfacing along 11.718 miles near the Texas Cowboy Reunion Grounds. The road will be designated FM 2746 and FM 2834 with Nelson Shave of Hamm supervising.

Services Monday For Area Pioneer Mrs Wofford

Last rites for Mrs. J J Wofford longtime West Texas resident were held Monday afternoon at First Baptist Church with ministers Clyde Cook and Temple Lewis officiating. Born Artie Gowins in Coleman Mississippi July 31 1881 she married J J Wofford in 1900 and lived in Coleman Haskell County Stamford Abilene and Graham. Survivors include her husband two sons daughters grandchildren great grandchildren sisters and brothers. Pallbearers named George Roberts William Roberts Emil Mueller Edwin Mueller Johnny Petty Edgar Boedeker.

Wortham Crow resigns as Lueders Independent School District superintendent after seven years to assume county supervisor duties on September 1.
