New Microwave Relay Station Near Stamford Construction Advances
Four Western Electric workers install equipment at a new micro wave radio relay station five miles southeast of Stamford. The 1400 square foot building and 175 foot antennas are complete and service is expected late this year. The route links Dallas to Phoenix and connects with a Dallas St Louis line, with service starting about December 1.

Robbery at Stamford Service Station prompts investigation
Stamford night operator Eddie Shanafelt reports robbers robbed the Reed Service Station just before midnight Saturday. The 1956 Oldsmobile was later found abandoned near North Wetherbee Street. Sheriff Garth Garrett says the case remains under investigation with roadblocks and police involvement continuing.

Saeverton Man Dies Tuesday At Big Spring
Ote Meier aged 67 of Sagerton died Tuesday at 5 30 a m in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Big Spring after a 10 day stay. A retired farmer and WWI veteran, he was born December 25 1894 in Cameron and married Vera Simmons in 1925. Funeral at Zion Lutheran Sagerton Thursday 3 p m with Rev. Pflug officiating. Burial Fairview Cemetery Sagerton Kinney Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include his wife two daughters Luther and Allen sons eight grandchildren two sisters and a brother. Pallbearers listed.

Stamford Youth Earns Lone Star Farmer Degree At Fort Worth
Claybourne Clarke son of Mr and Mrs C F Clarke a Stamford High School spring graduate received the Lone Star Farmer degree at the state FFA convention in Fort Worth last week. He will be picked up in San Antonio later by Weldon Holbrooks during a training session for agriculture teachers. Clarke carried out projects including range cows for calf crops beef heifers for development and range calves for beef production along with goats.

Council Grants Hanger Option For Delinting Plant Plans

July Rainfall Below Normal in Stamford
Official observer Cleburne Huston reports Stamford’s July rainfall remains under the monthly normal of 1.76 inches. A trace fell at the end of June, then July 15 added .03 inch, July 19 and 21 each brought .16 inch, and July 21 saw .11 inch from a thunderstorm, with most days dry.
