Stamford Guard Unit Best in 36th Division Honors
Members of Company M 142nd Infantry Stamford National Guard returned from Fort Hood with three top awards. They were named honor line company of the 36th Division and received the Haha trophy. The Ray Key trophy for the outstanding company of the Third Battalion also went to Company M along with a plaque for repeating last year's honor. Three soldiers earned expert infantryman badges: M-Sgt Elvin Hill Albany Sgt First Class David Counts Rule and Sgt First Class Jerry Saffel Rule. Captain James W. Lindsey now based in Lubbock, commands the company.

Pastor M. Shatto will be installed as pastor of St. Pauls Lutheran Church at Lagerton on Sunday July 28 at 7 30 p m with Pastor Berry of Haskell conducting. Shatto is a former public school teacher and Woodsboro high school pastor, coming from California where he led Trinity Lutheran School. Turkish experts study Texas home demonstration system
A 15 member Turkish agricultural group visited Baylor County to study Texas farming methods. Ettie Musil explained the home demonstration system during a briefing after tours of two Baylor County farms and a 4-H Girls workshop. Boat Races Planned at Lake Stamford Sunday
Lake Stamford hosts a four hour outboard speedboat demonstration this Sunday from 2 PM to 6 PM. Races start from the State Park area with signs directing traffic and refreshments available.
