He accused an opponent of using a hired speaker and masked claims about the farm loan policy of the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas, and he pledged to defend prohibition and oppose modifying the Eighteenth Amendment.

All Bonds Carried Over Four to One in Election
Stamford voters approved a $155000 bond package for water sewer and street paving. Street bonds of 75000 were boosted by threefold local matching to yield a $300000 paving program. Ss. E. Swanson, Stam ford tailor and civic figure, died at 7 a m Monday after about a week of illness from a burst appendix. Born near Knox ville Tenn Oct 26 1875 he lived in Stamford eight years. Funeral at First Baptist Church with Rotary Club pallbearers and Barrow Furniture director. Survived by widow two sons and three daughters, four grandchildren, father and stepmother, plus siblings. Mrs C E Flemins of McAdoo is patient in Stamford Sanitarium.

J E F Macon died suddenly at his son J E Macon Jr s home in Stamford after attending church services. Born in 1866 in Tennessee he led Church of Christ activities and funeral services were held at the Church of Christ with Rev Jim Harvey officiating. Survived by wife and several sons and daughters in Stamford area and beyond. Dr Dallas Southard returned from Rotary, NMA meetings, and Tennessee visit.

Changes in West Texas motorcade route announced
After a conference with President A M Bourland Vernon of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce and manager Homer Wade announced changes to the third annual vacation land motorcade itinerary. The caravan will travel from Snyder to Carlsbad New Mexico then McKitrick Canyon and on to Van Horn Valentine Marfa Fort Davis Alpine and Fort Davis for the district convention. Austin and Amarillo have requested information and the 150 member limit may be reached. Mr. and Mrs G W Baker and children of Walters Okla visiting S J Roberts and family.

Good Rains Bring Relief to Stamford Trade Territory
Good rains fell in portions of the Stamford trade territory Monday and Tuesday. A rain Sunday afternoon reached New Hope and extended east to Luedter, aiding a rich farming area including Avoca. Cotton stands up well where rain has arrived and winds that damaged cotton in June have ceased.

State Highway commission approved a concrete pavement along Highway No. 30 from Stamford ten miles south to a point 444 miles north of Anson. Bids open August 1. J W Puckett, county engineer, returned with notice of the action and bid advertisement. The UGSmiles long project runs from West McHarg avenue to the south boundary of road district No 1.
