Burglars enter by cutting a roof hole at L Schwarz and Company dry goods store and steal about 1000 dollars in cash and 1500 dollars in diamonds. Frances Prewit 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Prewit of this city, was crowned Goddess of West Texas at the Sweetwater water carnival. She won Miss Stamford in a contest by Vernon D. Iron Mountain Oil Co and Humble Oil and Refining Co No 1 Carl Olander, nine miles southeast of Stamford, reported 1457 barrels of oil in 12 hours through 8 to 4 inch choke on 1 inch tubing. First production for the producer followed earlier acidizing and casing changes. Royalty and lease activity surged around the discovery with multiple acres purchased by Sinclair Prairie, Danciger Refineries and others amid rising oil interest in Jones and Palo Pinto counties.

Stamford Holiday Party Accident Returns from Exposition
A holiday party returning from the Pan American Exposition was involved in a midafternoon crash near Avoca after a tire blew out. Injured were Mrs. W. H. Parnell with broken ribs, Opal Faye Parnell, Clarice Olson of Stamford, and Mrs. J. F. Taylor of Albany. Mrs. Taylor and Miss Parnell stayed overnight for observation. Olson had minor bruises.
