Accidents in Jones County Decline in First Half 1965
Texas DPS reports fewer automobile accidents in Jones County for January through June 1965 than the same period in 1964. There were 52 crashes, 14 with injuries and one fatality, plus $26,145 in property damage versus $36,885 last year. In the latest month, 13 accidents caused $4,345 damage.

Summer Grass Fire Season Beginning Here
The Stamford Fire Department answered three grass fire calls in the past week signaling the start of mid-summer fire danger. Fire Chief Rob Richard urged careful disposal of cigarettes and matches as temperatures rise and conditions dry. Calls were reported July 9 south of the city, July 11 in the 400 block of South Porter, and 714 West Bunkley.

Stamford Public School integration plans lack state approval though similar districts also wait. Superintendent H. S. FitzGerald expects a meeting in Austin later this month for a definite decision. Former Stamford Resident Dies in Tucson Arizona
Mrs. Raymond Brooks a former Stamford resident died July 2 in Tucson Arizona after a lengthy illness. She lived in Stamford prior to World War II. Her late husband Buster Britain who worked at the Stamford Cotton Oil Mill died in 1949. She is survived by her husband and one daughter.

Notices mailed to Lueders Independent School District property owners announce a 60 percent valuation increase. A board of equalization will hear objections on Wednesday July 28. Oil and gas valuations rose 10 percent after a prior hearing. Improvements At Stamford High School Facilities
Stamford High School will reopen with upgraded library and study hall spaces after completing a new auditorium. The old auditorium is being renovated into a study hall with armchair desks and stage for teachers. The library now occupies the full space with new shelves.
