Dorothy Cox and Edwin Massey wed in a rainbound ceremony after their car engine stalled during a downpour. The couple married at Rev Roy Adams home with the ceremony read after they sought shelter at Massey’s parents’ house. Massey, a Stamford high school 1929 graduate and painter, painted four life sized Biblical scenes for St John’s Methodist Church. The couple will reside in Stamford.

Charles Sweat Dodson known as C S Dodson a 57 year old railway operator died Monday night at his Stamford home after a heart attack He had worked 40 years in rail service and lived in Stamford 13 years Funeral services were held Wednesday at Kinney Chapel with Rev M B Harris officiating Burial followed at Highland Cemetery He was born February 12 1878 in Waxahachie Survived by wife three sons J L George and Bruce Allen of Stamford a daughter Celesten Howard of Linhurst New Jersey two grandchildren two brothers W H Dodson of Custer Oklahoma Warren Dodson of Canada and three sisters L E Ratliff of Custer Oklahoma Sue Golden of Clinton Oklahoma and Claudy Windolph of Orange California along with other relatives.

A Stamford group representing the Texas Cowboy Reunion attended the Knox County courthouse cornerstone ceremony in Benjamin Tuesday afternoon. Clyde Burnett of Benjamin was honored as the Lexas Cowboy Reunion Association president and J. Swenson spoke briefly among local pioneers, with Stamford members including W. G. Swenson, A. C. Cooper, T. A. Upshaw, Jim Stell, and others.

Rev Murray Fuquay of Hardin Simmons University will preach at both services at West Side Baptist Church Sunday. Funeral Service Held Sunday For C F Teichelman
Funeral services for Carl Ferdinand Teichelman 79 a native of Germany were held at St Pauls Lutheran Church Lagerton with Rev A H Muehlbrad officiating. Burial followed in Caron cemetery near Sagerton. He died at his daughter Mrs Alfred Rinns home eight miles north of Stamford. He was survived by his widow seven daughters one son thirty two grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers included Willmer Eckerman Ro and Rinn Herman Weis Anton Terence and Lamond Teichelman.

Former Champion Calf Roper Ellison Carroll at Rodeo Reunion
At the Cowboy Reunion, 73 year old Ellison Carroll, once the world’s top calf roper, failed to rope a calf in a public display. Will Rogers, guest and humorist, roped the calf after Carroll missed, then praised his old friend. Spectators recalled Carroll’s global fame in Argentina and Canada as age slowed his ride.

Early cotton bloom arrives at Stamford as Baldowski leads
W. H. Baldowski of the Charlie Humphrey farm five miles east of Stamford brings in the season’s first cotton blossom. He reports 90 acres at blossoming stage and 15 acres of young cotton. A 15 year Jones County farmer, he is regarded as one of the county’s best.

Expenditures Of Relief Work In June Decline In Jones County
Relief spending in Jones county for June totaled 8923.50 across direct relief work relief and supervision plus administrative costs and rural rehabilitation. The case load dropped to 653 families, the lowest since October 1934 when 505 received aid. Expenditures by month since October show a peak in December 1934 and a decline in June 1935.

New Rule Limits CCC Entrants To Relief Families
Fifty Jones County youths will be sent to CCC camps soon under a new rule restricting entrants to relief families. Mrs. Lenore Christian notes about 50 border cases were turned away in April while the expanded quota will lift many relief rolls. Boys may send home 25 dollars monthly plus board, lodging, clothes and five dollars for themselves. Transportation was provided previously by Irvin Sanders and may be offered again. Date will be posted at the relief office.

Several Rural Homes Entered By Prowlers
Thefts from farm homes near Stamford were reported last week. Prowlers entered M. V. Bland’s home two and a quarter miles south of Stamford on Tuesday while the family was away and took clothing and a gun. The Ed Rome and Dave Walker homes in the Tuxedo area were also entered on Wednesday, with clothing utensils and foods taken.

Black Widow Spider Reaches Yard Contest Finale
A black widow is kept in a glass jar at the Stamford American office after being captured near a farm at Tuxedo. About 200 spiderlings hatched Wednesday night, with two egg pouches observed. the spider remains on display and monitored as emergence continues.

Police Chief Urges Vaccination of All Dogs in State
Police Chief G. G. Flournoy appeals to dog owners to vaccinate against rabies amid hydrophobia spread in the southern region. Six Cisco lions were bitten last week by a dog and are receiving pasteur treatment. Vaccinated dogs will be spared, unvaccinated ones may be killed if symptoms appear. Dr. S. S. Callicoatte will vaccinate at 1.25 dollars, with records kept for the police.

Stamford golfers defeated Hamlin six matches to five on the home course Sunday afternoon. Winners for Stamford were Jennings Johnson Baird J Scott Cantrell and W Scott. A return match at Stamford Country Club June 30 ended nine to five for Stamford and evened the points. The Country Club has played four matches this season with plans announced for a first annual party inviting neighboring clubs.
