Four Oklahoma youths charged after spree from Lawton to Del Rio

Four Lawton youths ages 15 to 18 were charged in Haskell County with robbery with assault after a weekend chase spanning Lawton Burke Burnett Archer County to Via Acuna Del Rio. They attacked Wylie Oil attendant Tommy Clexey and stole cars and cash, tying him and fleeing. Sheriff Garth Garrett said the group was captured following a bus driver tip and police work across Texas locations.

Thompson elected new president of Exchange Club

M. D. Thompson was installed as the Exchange Club president at the noon meeting Friday June 29 succeeding Byron N. Jaycees Sponsor Donkey Ball Game in Stamford

Stamford Jaycees will sponsor a donkey ball game Saturday night at Wendeborn field starting at 8 p.m. Jaycees members will play the Bricksdahl Swedes. Don Caffey serves as Jaycee chairman for the event.

New Champions Named At Texas Cowboy Reunion

New champions were recognized at the final performance of the Texas Cowboy Reunion, closing a four night rodeo before large crowds. Winners posted fast times in roping and riding events, with notable horse shows, a parade, and a grand entry enhanced by colorful group costumes. Roy Reeder won the oldtime calf roping saddle with 1496 seconds. Linda Merriott claimed the cowgirl sponsor saddle after riding Gene Rambo. other finalists included Homer McLaury and Brenda Foster. Large Street Parade Led by Cowboys Crowds in Texas

Thousands witnessed a Texas Cow boy Reunion parade with horses floats and pioneer vehicles. The Hardin-Simmons Cowboy Band led. Mayor Kelly rode with arena director John Selmon. Prizes were awarded to Hardin County Sheriff Posse and other groups, with multiple clubs and local businesses displaying decorated floats.

Revival Meeting Starts Sunday at Church of Christ

Jerome Savage of Nocona Texas will speak at Orient Street Church of Christ from July 9 to 18. Weekday services are at 7 am and 8 pm with Sunday services at 10 30 am and 6 pm. Savage is Abilene Christian College graduate and has preached in the area for seven years before moving to Nocona. Local evangelists included for previous churches. Music by James High and local preacher J B Lamb.

Dundee and Buda Quarter Horses took top honors here on Monday. Kip Bar a three year old stallion entered by Ed Heller of Dundee, sired by the 1962 Texas Cowboy, led the performance.

Funeral Service for Mrs Youngquist Held in Stamford

Mrs. Carl FE Youngquist of Stamford died at Stamford Memorial Hospital at 3:35 am Tuesday at age 85. Born in Sweden, she came to the U S in 1880s, lived in Nebraska, then Texas, with a long family record and survivors including four children and six grandchildren. Funeral set for Wednesday at Bethel Lutheran Church with burial in its cemetery.
