Stamford High School seniors will sell subscriptions to the Stamford American to raise funds for their senior trip. They receive 40 percent of new subscriptions and 30 percent of renewals. Stamford native Cecil B. Gray Jr. dies after major operation
Cecil B. Gray Jr., 32, of Stamford, died at Harris Hospital Fort Worth shortly after an operation for a ruptured appendix. Funeral service was held at St. John’s Methodist Church with burial in Highland Cemetery. He was a bookkeeper and pilot for Rambo Construction and served in the Naval Air Force in World War II and postwar training. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Bennett, his mother Mrs. Lessie Lee Gray of Waco and his father B. Gray of Midland, among others.

Rhea family mourns as feed mill accident claims head of household
L. L. Arnold, 81, longtime Dickens County resident, died January 15 from injuries in a home feed mill accident. Funeral held January 17 at Spur Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife four daughters seven sons 34 grandchildren 53 great grandchildren and a sister. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Mrs. C. B. Rhea of Stamford unable to attend.

W R Simpson In Critical Condition After Gun Wound
W R Simpson, 33, an adjuster from Midland, remained in critical condition after a 357 pistol discharged at his sister's home Thursday. He underwent extensive surgery and had 14 pints of blood by Saturday. his mother and sister traveled to Midland to be with him.
