Fe Penick retirement and Eden reflections in Mesopotamia

LIEUT WALTER HINTON TO VISIT STAMFORD AVIATION DAY

Lieutenant Walter Hinton famed NC 4 trans Atlantic flyer will visit Stamford February 9 for an aviation day hosted by the Stamford Exchange Club. He will speak at a noon luncheon and address schools in the afternoon, with a public meeting at night. The program covers airport construction and aviation projects with no admission charge.

Ancient English Water Clock Draws Attention in Window Display

A replica English clepsydra built by RB Hopwood in 1682 on show at Dobyns the Jeweler attracts interest. The 24 hour dial operates with water level, a brass cylinder, and a float chain. Paderewski to Perform at Simmons University Abilene

Ignace Jar Paderewski, famed pianist, will appear at Simmons University auditorium in Abilene on February 16. It is his only West Texas engagement on the current tour, and possibly his last trip across the continent. Critics in New York Boston and Chicago praise his return to power and depth. Tickets are in demand from West Texas music patrons.

Dies Suddenly at His Home Here M Hale

Anne Hale, 61, longtime Stamford resident, died suddenly at 305 South Haskell Street from a heart attack. Funeral Thursday 2:30 p.m. at home conducted by Rev. Two Day Rural Affairs Meetings Set for Stamford

Fire destroys W I Lackey home on Hartline street

The home of WM Lackey at 204 Hartline street Copether was destroyed by fire discovered about 11 50 a m Sunday. The family had left the house about an hour earlier and Pine Marshal Merker reported the blaze seemed to originate from gases. Lackey carried about 700 in insurance on the house and 900 on the furniture, a total loss not fully covered by insurance.
