Fight Is Launched On Short Staple Cotton In Texas
A Texas led plan seeks to combat short-staple cotton by mobilizing 350,000 bushels of state certified seed and a half million dollar credit to plant 5,000,000 acres in 1992. The effort calls for wide cooperation from bankers, gin men, chambers of commerce and agricultural groups to lower seed costs and restore quality across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.

Six convictions in 104th district court at Anson
In Anson six cases ended in conviction before Judge Clyde Grissom. Murphey Harrold of Stamford pleaded guilty to auto theft, merchandise theft, and burglary, receiving two year sentences on each. Brownfield youths Clyde Bicke and Sulan Flippen pled guilty to auto theft, each with two year suspended sentences. Other pleas included a two year suspended term for Eick and Flippen related to missing merchandise. The actions followed arrests in Hobbs New Mexico with a Buick sedan identified by J. T. Brown of Stamford.

Suspects Arrested After Sensational Canyon Bank Robbery
Art Farmer and Jack Burgess of Borger faced robbery with firearms charges after the First National Bank of Canyon heist.
