Bible course offered here Sunday by Rev. A. B. Lightfoot
The Rev. A. B. Lightfoot will lead a Bible course at First Baptist Church in Stamford starting Sunday at 10 a.m. with sessions at 1 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. Participation is free aside from a $3 study guide. a noon covered dish lunch is available. Lightfoot, a native of Santa Anna, has pastored in Big Lake, Odessa, Snyder and Kerrville and held leadership roles in Howard Payne College and regional missions.

Trachta Named NBC Stamford Manager in 1976
Glenn Trachta is appointed manager of National Building Centers in Stamford effective January 1 1976. A North Texas State graduate and former internal auditor, he previously managed NBC Archer City and worked in Muenster during school. The remodeling plan aims to expand inside display and outside yard areas to better serve do it yourself and large volume customers. John Duncan’s future at NBC Stamford remains undecided.

Firefighters Halts Cotton Trailer Blaze at Farm er's Co-op Gin
Stamford Fire Department stopped a one-cot ton cotton trailer fire Tuesday night before it spread to hundreds of cotton bales. The report says the fire began around 9:30 p.m. in a cotton trailer among many trailers and was contained to that unit despite sub freezing temperatures.

Local voters face 13 terms expiring in Stamford area elections
In the Bicentennial year Stamford area voters will choose on county city school and hospital districts. Incumbents Lane Hollabaugh Moore Simmons Reed Massey Kinney Nauert Jones Mills Humphrey Baize and other officials have terms ending this spring with various reelection filings and undecided candidates. The Jones County Democratic primary is set for May 1 filing due February 2. City elections are April 6 with March 5 filing deadline.

Stamford History Society meets Monday January 12 at 7 p.m. in the Lions Club Building with Robert W. Sledge of McMurry College Abilene as speaker. Rector will present the program as part of the society’s Bicentennial year observance featuring Sledge discussing the American Declaration of Independence.

Wildlife sculptor Tadlock exhibits in Stamford
Paul Tadlock, a former business executive turned wildlife sculptor, displays 17 pieces including antelope, mule deer, bears, and big horn sheep at First Federal Savings and Loan in Stamford. The Houston native, now 40, began sculpting in 1973 and has created a 20-animal North American wildlife series valued around 11k to 12k for the Stamford show.

Hamlin Hospital District suit draws local attention
Citizens surrounding Hamlin and Stamford file lawsuits seeking rulings over hospital district boundaries and responsibilities. Judge J Neil Daniel has set a January 22 judgment date in the Hamlin case after a 40 minute jury deliberation returned a plaintiffs verdict. A second suit against Stamford Hospital District is ongoing with no hearing date yet.
