Stamford Gets New School Furniture Plant The Dixie Seating Company
The Dixie Seating Company opened a new Stamford plant in the Russel building on South Wetherbee Street to rebuild school desks. Manager W C Jackson from Greenville leads the operation with C C Whitson as brother-in-law partner and F L Feaster as foreman. The Greenville main plant may relocate, with Stamford hosting a permanent unit if housing for staff is found. The local site will run about six months, employing eight workers now and ten to twelve later, producing about 1500 desks monthly for two months of signed business.

Carson's Plumbing Shop Moves to Ferguson Street Location
Dick Carson Plumbing and Heating Shop relocated this week from the square’s south side to a brick building on South Ferguson, formerly Brown Grocery, which Mr. Carson owns and is renovating. The Carson couple now resides in the apartment behind the shop. Meanwhile 18 year old Theodore Embie of Camden pleaded guilty to stealing a car to take his date for a ride and received a judge’s order for his father to administer a spanking.

Baptismal Services at First Baptist Next Sunday Evening

Two Stamford Men Arrested In Raid On Whiskey Still
Haskell County officers raided a brush hidden whiskey still three miles northwest of Stamford. Two Stamford men and a third from Lafayette Oklahoma were arrested with a 50 gallon home made still, five gallons of whiskey, and six barrels of mash seized. Officers Kemp Clifton Lewellen Kittley McCoy led the raid and awaited charges.

Mexican Woman Dies After Train Injury in Katy Yards
Julia Frausto 21, a Mexican woman injured when run over by a train in the Katy freight yards on November 10, died at Stamford Sanitarium Sunday. She lost an arm and suffered a severe hip injury. Funeral services were held at the cemetery Wednesday morning with Rev. Sam Morris officiating. Kinney Funeral Home directed. Survivors include a 5 year old daughter, mother, step mother, two brothers and two sisters.

E H Lovelady, 81, father of Mrs J Griffin High of Stamford, died near midnight Monday at the family homestead between Bellview and Bowie after a brief illness following a Christmas Eve return from a neighbor singing. Funeral Tuesday at Vashti with burial beside his wife in Vashti cemetery. First City of Stamford Oil Well Begins Pumping
The Peckham & Danciger No. 1 City of Stamford on the Hope sand is rigged and expected to yield 150 to 200 barrels daily of high gravity oil. Tubing and rods were being installed as pumping was anticipated, with a temporary wild spill of about 100 barrels during setup. The unit is 1937 feet deep, testing 39.5 gravity, located 12 miles southeast of Stamford, 5 miles northwest of Lueders in section 207 BBB&C.

Seven Members Of Same Family Hurt In Wreck Near McCauley
Seven members of a Hobbs New Mexico family were injured Friday afternoon when Mrs. J. W. Walton tried to pass another car, forced off the road near McCauley. The group, en route to Gladewater from Hobbs, included Mrs. M. F. Humbird severely hurt with fractured arms and ankle, daughter Jimmy Humbird 20 with serious scalp wounds, Mrs. Walton and Mrs. Barnes with severe head injuries, and three children with multiple injuries. Gerald Neal 9 escaped injury. First aid at Hamlin hospital, then transported to Stamford Sanitarium. Overall condition reported favorable.

Model Bakery Expands Plant and Space in Stamford
Model Bakery in Stamford, run by M. A. Burleson and Jack Halbrook, is enlarging its plant. A new salesroom will open south of the current site with the wrapping room and pastry kitchen in the rear. The old location will remain a bakery as added oven boosts capacity. Halbrook, recovering from a serious hand injury, is improving and set to return to work after time in Clyde and six weeks back in Stamford.

The census report of cotton ginned to December 13 shows Jones County ranking second in Texas with 52,655 bales ginned this year, up from 19,419 the previous year. Nueces leads with 87,469 bales, Navarro third at 50,986, and McLen nan fourth at 50,642. ginning continues, so Jones County totals will rise by several thousand as Stamford and other gins operate.

Leonard Seeliger, an employee at L Schwarz and Company, was robbed of about 75 dollars and beaten near Abilene while returning to Stamford from a holiday visit. He was found unconscious by W L Bourns, who took him to Abilene for first aid, then he stayed the night there and returned to Stamford with his parents.

Seven people injured in a head-on collision on the Haskell Stamford highway when a car skidded on slick pavement. Three seriously hurt were taken to a hospital. four others treated in Haskell.
