Big Rabbit Drive Kills 2000 Bunnies in Stamford Area
In one of the largest drives ever, 250 to 300 hunters covered about twenty sections of land on the S.M.S. Flatto ranch east of Orient railroad. Four coyotes were slain as the four mile long line of hunters passed. A noon barbecue followed, with pies and cakes from nearby women completing the meal. Rabbits on the ranch had damaged nearby crops last year, and this hunt aimed to reduce depredation.

Little Boy Loses Eye In Accidental Rifle Shot
Five year old Jack Peters son of Mr and Mrs Bert Peters of Tuexdo lost his left eye after picking up a .22 rifle on the porch and the gun discharged as he handed it to his father The bullet entered the forehead and passed through the eye An operation at the sanitarium removed the eye and his condition is reported favorable.

Wrecking Shop Moves to Highway 30 Location
Cook's Wrecking Shop relocates from Stamford Garage area to a new corrugated iron building on a 15 acre tract along Highway 30 south, next to Wall's filling station. The site includes Wall's filling station and a tourist camp, extends to the Katy railroad, and will be leveled for wrecking cars and salvaging parts. It is owned by John Cook and managed by W. Collision injures El Paso men and produce truck driver
A car and a Knox City produce truck collided injuring two El Paso men. A. D. Parker and Wayne Pittman, both in the truck, were taken to Stamford sanitarium. Parker suffered concussion and other injuries while Harrell received head lacerations and chest injuries. The steady rain should revive wheat damaged by a severe freeze and uplift recently planted oats. It will also provide underground moisture helpful to cotton and feed crops next spring.
Pipe Line Work Begins in Stamford Water Project
The J. Floyd Malcomb Company started re laying a 14 inch water line near Penick Dam in Lueders as part of Stamford’s water improvement program. They will relocate the line crossing the floodwater storage reservoir site and lay a mile of new 12 inch pipe to bypass the settling basins. Excavation stripping for the reservoir proceeds and Austin Bridge Company crews began stripping work last week. Drilling of the salt water well was delayed with Gene Callihan of Albany as contractor.

Beating Fatality at Stamford Beer Saloon Shocked Town
In Stamford, Foster aged about 22 died after a hammer blow to the head during an assault near the Blue Bird building. McKaughan was arrested at a dance hall with blood on a seat cover and a hammer found on him as Sheriff Kemp and Stamford police investigated. Funeral services for J. W. Foster were held in Stamford with burial at Hamlin. he left a wife and three young children.
