Joe Hooks Dies From Injuries in Accident
Joe Hooks a former resident died in Los Angeles California on December 4 from injuries suffered October 21 when his neck was broken and his back crushed. His mother Mrs C P Nichols of Electra traveled to California with him after the injury and they brought the body back to Electra for burial beside his father. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon with relatives from Stamford, Bert Fleming and daughters Gweneth and Patricia in attendance.

Jones County Backs Cotton Marketing Quota in Large Vote
County voters favor the 140 cent cotton marketing quotas by 780 to 326 in a countywide referendum. State totals show about 70.5 percent approval locally and roughly 91 percent across cotton states. Loans for 1929 cotton are now available to farmers at 4.80 cents per pound for back of middling white 7-8 inch staple.
