Skip Row Penalty Ruling Stands Says USDA Officials
Rolling Plains cotton farmers failed to overturn a USDA ruling penalizing skip row planting from 1963 to 1966 and affecting 1967 projected yields. Officials said the 1967 program remains unchanged with a national price support of 20.25 cents per pound for middling cotton and government sales at 22.5 cents. The ruling costs Rolling Plains about 4 million across 31 counties, while appeals for fair projected yields proceed over the next two weeks.
